Hi there! My name is Nicola, I am 40-something, a father of two, married to one, living in Zurich (with previous stops in Milan, Luxembourg, Geneva and London). With this blog, I want to share my journey in the financial world.

I have an engineering degree and a Master in Finance.

I began my career at Italy’s leading investment bank before transitioning to the corporate sector. My core expertise lies in corporate treasury, with a strong focus on investment management and risk hedging across interest rates, foreign exchange, counterparty exposure, credit, and commodities. I have gained cross-sector experience while consistently specializing in financial risk management and optimization.

Through this blog, I aim to share my investment expertise as it applies to personal finance. Over the course of my career, I have managed multi-billion-euro investment portfolios—and even larger debt positions—navigating numerous financial crises, including the Lehman Brothers collapse, the Eurozone sovereign debt crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past seven years, I have advised and coached numerous successful entrepreneurs on their personal paths to financial security and long-term wealth management.

About me, they say:

  • “A mentor” – Jerome Kerviel,
  • “Nicola discovered Brunello Cuccinelli before Chamath” -Scott Galloway,
  • “In the niche world of personal finance, he is not even the most famous Nick with an Italian surname” – Barry Ritholtz,
  • “Srsly?” – Aswath Damodaran.
